The total permanent resident population is 145.000 people. The number of regular employees is 217.000 people, of which 1 million are transient visitors (maximum during festivals), and 1.719 are office space for rent.

Thu Thiem urban area has Mai Chi Tho Avenue as a strategic radial axis passing through Thu Thiem, connecting to the center of District 1 by tunnel across the Saigon River.
